Wind Farm Installation Vessel

Joop Roodenburg, President, Huisman
Enabling the fast, safe, and efficient installation of future generation wind farms, the Huisman Wind Installation Vessel (WIV) is working to set the standard for future wind turbine generators (WTG) installations. Via fully robotic systems, the WIV is able to assemble and install WTGs from its self-contained semi-submersible vessel. This is a continuous process for which no Marshalling ports are needed since the components (masts, nacelles, blades) can be directly shipped from the manufacturer to the WIV. Components are loaded onto the WIV by means of a 3D motion compensated crane. The vessel can store components of eight WTGs and is designed to install 20 MW WTGs.
