Meeting the Anchoring Challenges for Floating Wind

Tom Fulton, Head of Renewables and Mooring Development, Acteon
Anchor systems for floating offshore wind can in many cases be the most expensive element of a mooring system. Due to high and dynamic loads as well as challenging seabed conditions, it can be difficult to select, design, procure and install reliable and efficient anchor systems. This presentation will review the anchoring options, look at the size and weight of various anchors, analyze installation times, and determine total installed costs. The presentation will also review some of the new anchoring concepts to see how they may help reduce size, weight and cost.
