The DOLPHYN Project

Phil Smyth-Tyrrel, Head of Practice – Design and Engineering, ODE
The Dolphyn (Deepwater Offshore Local Production of HYdrogeN) project is an offshore ‘green’ hydrogen project, producing hydrogen on a bulk-scale through electrolysis and powered by a floating offshore wind system. Working alongside technical partners ERM, Tractabel Engie, NEL and Doosan, ODE is acting as pre-FEED/FEED designer for the project topsides, pipeline and landfall. Having received UK Government funding and awards for innovation, the Dolphyn technology is now in its second phase which will see a single Dolphyn unit constructed and commissioned offshore Aberdeen. Phase 3 will then is forecast to see the commissioning of the first commercial offshore hydrogen wind farm in the UK, consisting of 10 x 10MW units.
